What are Leg CT Scans?

Leg CT scans can look for problems of the hip, knee, ankle, or foot, as well as the legs themselves.

CT scans can quicly create detailed pictures and often help detect or diagnose issues like an abscess or infection. Often doctors who find a mass during a physical exam will order a Leg CT and pain in the foot, ankle, or knee joints are often probed with CT scans of the legs. These are usually done when an MRI isn't possible.

Broken bones, tumors and other deseases can also be spotted or diagnosed with the aid of a quality leg CT.

CT scans of the legs may also be used by doctors to visualize the placement of needles during a biopsy, or to help guide the withdrawal of fluids. They can be extremely useful in monitoring conditions of the legs before and after treatment.
